Michael Letter, PA-C, MCMS
Michael Letter, PA-C, MCMS is a Physician Assistant for UHealth Sports Medicine, a division of the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The division is the official sports medicine provider for the University of Miami Hurricanes, U.S. Sailing, and Miami Marlins.
A NCCPA certified Physician Assistant, Letter has extensive surgical training in general orthopedics, sports medicine, trauma, and cardiovascular surgery.
He is a member of the University of Miami Sports Performance and Wellness Institute. Letter is adjunct faculty at Barry University in the School of Graduate Medical Science, and a lecturer at the University of Miami.
Letter attended Limestone College, where he was a four-year letterman for the Limestone College Saints basketball team. He graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Biology. Michael received his Master’s degree from Barry University in Clinical Medical Science. Letter is currently completing a PhD at the University of Miami in Exercise Physiology/Sports Science. Letter’s current research interests include surgical outcomes and stem cell therapies.
Michael was a lead member of the medical team that accompanied Diana Nyad on her multiple open water swim attempts from Havana, Cuba to Key West, Florida. Letter was featured alongside Dr. Clifton Page of UHealth Sports Medicine in the feature film “The Other Shore,” which chronicles Diana’s epic feat.
Letter’s clinical interests include endurance sports and sports injury prevention.
He is an amateur competitive runner and has completed 13 marathons, including qualifying for the Boston Marathon.
